SNP trying to hide bad news again, this time about kids ward in Livingston.

The Scottish Government attempted to “bump” NHS Lothian into delaying the release of a review of St John’s Hospital’s children’s ward in Livingston.

Health Secretary Shona Robison raised questions about why the review wasn’t being delayed until after May’s Scottish parliamentary elections.

But efforts to influence NHS Lothian into signing off on a delay were rebuffed by Jim Crombie, Chief Officer of Acute Hospital Services.

Scottish Government chiefs then tried to hide secret files which showed the email exchange.

However, thanks to Freedom of Information laws, the West Lothian Courier has obtained and can reveal the content of those files.

They show that NHS Lothian wanted the review by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) published by early March to avoid a period of damaging uncertainty over t
