    A mere 15 years ago...

It was billed as a friendly, a testimonial against Celtic for Ryan Giggs at Old Trafford. It didn't quite work out like that.
Tempers boiled over, with David Beckham in the thick of the action. Indeed, he was substituted after an hour with United manager Sir Alex Feguson possibly worried that the England captain would land himself in hot water.
Manchester United were humbled 4-3 by Celtic. And Martin O'Neill showed once again why he is favourite to replace Sir Alex Ferguson as manager.
For those who are cynical about the prospect of the Old Firm joining the Premiership, last night's match should have been something of an eye-opener.
Celtic may only be the undisputed champions north of the border after landing the Scottish treble and this may only have been a friendly but for much of the opening period, the visitors were undeniably better than United.
Maybe United were too concerned with paying tribute to the man whose night it was. Ryan Giggs went to bed

remember watching that game. we had some team back then.

but we are not that bad now, we just dont pay much importance to the art of defending, its entirely the fault of management. a more tactical aproach and a couple of good defenders whos job is to defend and not go running into no mans land for most of the game would change things considerably.

we give away soft goals and teams dont really have to work hard or do anything difficult to score against us.

true - defence is pish. we're getting away with it because the rest of the teams are pish, but only just. If they weren't scheidting themselves every time Griffiths goes near the ball and actually show a bit of courage, they might find out we're a lot easier to beat than they think...

Wee Tierney the left back looks a good player, hopefully he keeps playing well and we can get Izzaguire tae phuck.
