Queen of the South fans seek place on club's board

Queen of the South fans have approached Dumfries and Galloway Council to back their bid for a place on the board of the Scottish Championship club.
The Queens Trust needs the support of the local authority to meet share levels needed to take the issue to the Doonhamers' annual general meeting.
Their goal is to secure a director's role at the Dumfries club.
Failing that they have said they would hope to get a "non-voting representative" onto the board.
The Queens Trust has just over 900 shares in the Palmerston Park outfit with 7,500 needed to allow it to add an item to the AGM agenda.
It has written to Dumfries and Galloway Council to seek the backing of the Dumfries Common Good Fund which holds more than 6,600 shares.
Together they could ensure the issue of fan representation on the board was added to the agenda.
It would then be up to shareholders to decide whether the move should go ahead.

Good luck to them I say . Th

I think it's a good idea for fans to have a say in the club, don't know what some are scared of.

It will no doubt ruffle a few feathers at Palmerston but don't see a problem with it
The club never moaned when the Trust bought thousands of pounds worth of shares or when they help with halftime entertainment and junior blues activities so maybe a way of say thank you to those who give up countless hours of their time

Whilst from a business/commercial sense the club has probably never been run better, the supporter apathy in Dumfries and scottish football is pretty high, there's zero atmosphere at games due to the stewarding/handling of the young team and a wee look around the ground is enough to see we have an ageing support. Having a fan rep on the board would be a good step to thinking outside the box etc and improving relations. Personally I think we should introduce new pricing, including a 18-25 subsidised entry fee (or low income) , "much" cheaper season tickets that don't piss people like me off when you miss loads of games due to tv, instead of banning the young team we should buy them more instruments/flags to make a racket with and do everything we can to make the idea of coming to palmerston exciting rather than a chore.

Lot of hostility to the idea over on P&B which seems strange to me, seems the ordinary fan shouldn't have any say in the running of the club.

I assume the trust owns their shares in their own right. Could individual trust members add their own shares to the trust's amount to boost the full amount?

It was 5 years ago last week that former Chairman David Rae went cap in hand to the fans as the club faced financial ruin . Fast forward 5 years and the club have a healthy bank balance and 3 facilities that are making us money away from the football side of things ( the Queens Arena , our 3G pitch and the King George V ) therefore we should be eternally grateful how far the club has come in such short a time .
The men in charge at the moment are doing a great job and the future is bright

Personally don't see a problem if there was to be some sort of better connection between the club and the supporters . Whether that was a place on the board or some sort of fans working group ........

Don't know about this to be honest. I mean I am not against it as such but not sure its really needed. Messrs Blount jr, Hewittson and Paterson have been working minor miracles behind the scenes in opening more revenue streams for Qos and because of this , I am extremely happy of the way things are going . I heard there is more good news to come from the arena as well and this can only make our future more secure.

I agree entirely with JR - It's not broken so why try and fix it - the club is in good hands and despite the usual rumblings from the well known suspects we an be can be optimistic of the future.

As a lifetime member if the Queens Trust I wish them well in what they do in the future but trying to get someone on the board is perhaps a bit too ambitious.
