    Cameron doesnt get it.

I know this topic is relevant to most of you on here. Cameron thinks we should rehabilitate offenders, what a load of bull.
These people have no idea what is right or wrong, and never will. To help them we need to punish them hard. Rehab is in their hands, not ours. Hardship never hurt anyone. Criminals should be made to work ten hour days in chains. Not watching sky tv, playing pool, and getting three hot meals a day.
Then again, a lack of exercise kills them quicker.

Before all you leftie ba stards get on my case.....

    You are wrong.

    Jesus.

You'll struggle to accept this but I actually agree with you, Francis. I'm also very much of the thought that all ***ual offenders should be jailed for life instead of the filthy little *******s getting off lightly with sentences such as community service and restraining orders, just to pluck an random punishment out off of thin air.

Hows about punishing and rehabilitating (some/all). Up until last year I was actively involved with helping offenders gain employment and over 80.905% of the people we worked with did not re offend - significantly higher than the figure for those who did not enter our program (44.742%). This coupled with hard time (chain gangs, no telly, pool, or toilet paper, porrige diet etc ) is the way forward.

Talking bo llocks. Punishment is the way forward. To rehabilitate is to reinforce offenders behaviours. It is part of the problem. Let me give you an example. Children, like offenders, will push till they get punished. Not to punish them, is not caring about them.

They need it, because they are so immature. Punishment helps them grow up, a bit like you cambusman. You wont understand a word of this.

Punishment where rehab is better suited is more more likely to reinforces the adult/child relationship than rehabilitation. Rehabilitation where punishment is better is likely to be a complete waste of time.

We could simplify it and say very offender is 'just immature' and then treat them all the same - its simple and requires little thinking so I can see why it appeals.
