Ipswich Town have confirmed Liam Feeney is to join the club on loan from Bolton for the remainder of the season.

Speculation on Tuesday suggested the Wanderers winger, who is out of contract at the end of the campaign, was due for talks at Portman Road.

Speaking after their 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers, Town boss Mick McCarthy revealed he was impressed with Feeney's performance against his side last week and believes the 29-year-old's versatility could be beneficial to their hopes of promotion.

"He's at Ipswich," McCarthy said. "I've just seen him, we'll be signing him on Thursday, it'll be done.

"I'd never seen him play up front before but I thought he was different class last Tuesday, I thought he played really well.

"He can play either side, he's got real pace, he can stretch the team, stretch the pitch and he's an experienced Championship player, so that's a good one for us that."
