    The Spaniard Inn A3

I think that is what it was called. Closed for years and in ruinous condition with scaffolding around it .

Recently a for sale sign went up that has now itself fallen down.

Perhapsp LDB/Scully and Co coudl club together and buy it then do it up

Ideal location as a rest home for incurable Pompey fans or Saga Louts

Over the years I have passed it many. many times. I even had a couple of pints in there pre breathalyser days. Being a bit of a sleuth I have found this quite amazing news and so will watch this space....

THE notorious Spaniard Inn on the A3, at Bramshott Chase, has been sold for more than £1million by Haslemere estate agents Clarke Gammon Wellers.
A firm’s spokesman said plans to turn the building, located on the southbound section of the A3, into an upmarket car dealership are under discussion. The new owners intend to spend several million pounds completely refurbishing the site and will unveil plans in the coming weeks.
The building has been in a derelict state for many years, propped up by scaffolding, but contrary to popular belief it is not listed.
It has a checkered history and is said to have been a refuge for a notorious highwayman known as ‘Jack’ who carried out robberies along the Portsmouth Road and body snatchers are said to have used the building’s cellars.

I had an idea it woudl be a good site gor Travelodge sort of thing

Always thought it sad the state it was in - I have vague memories of having a drink once or twice

Did you ever go 'Clubbing' there .

Coincidentally BTW and on the A3 up nearer me at Wisley just after the M25 Junction a restaurant last called Dominiques but closed for some 20 years plus has also just been bought. it was very upmarket and apparently popular but declined after the A3 was widened (that also did for a Pub called the 'Hut' opposite the Lake) and access to it got more difficult plus the Hilton got built behind it and they blocked acces via the Seven Hills Road I'll be interested to see what they do with that.

We had a family Christmas Dinner at that Hilton a few years back, it was cack.
And our big black head waiter later popped up as Father Christmas.

Always wondered why that restaurant on the A3 was always closed.

I don't know when Fleetwood Mac were an unknown local band, but it certainly wasn't in the 80s or "more recent years". They were already famous in the late 1960s (Albatross).

Return of the Pedant. Good for a Fleetwood Mac album. From the 1960s.
