    Beat Bolton on sat and......

they are doomed to the 3rd tier of footie and you will cement your spot in the playoffs.

The thing is how far will the Trotters fall before recovering.

Until its mathematically impossible I hesitate to say our playoff place is safe - bitter experience suggests we are very capable of snatching disaster from the jaws of triumph!

Bolton's demise is sad, but all to common even with a local businessman with best intentions - it does show that a proper strategy is required to keep a club stable even if there is someone with resources willing to back the club.

    Bolton are:

    1. Currently bottom of the away form guide; In fact I think they have the worst away record in the entire FL.
    2. They have gone 21 away games without an away victory and suffered a 6-0 drubbing at Bristol City less than 3 weeks ago.

Derby have just blown Hull away 4-0 with some scintillating fast, open, combination football.

So put your money on Bolton securing a 2-0 victory against the Rams on Satdee..."oh Madame Football is a cruel mistress..." Peter Cook

If I was a betting man I would put my money on Derby beating Bolton by a bigger score than you beat Dull.

The only trouble is I would get very short odds. Madame Football can also be a wonderful lover.

Not that 'cruel' Ella, surely. What I can see happening is...we beat our play off rivals...say 6-0 on aggregate during the season...and then lose to them in the last minute at Wembley... or is this just what years of watching Derby does to you? It's 'Mistress Derby's' way...she loves to tease.

Don't tempt fate Anagram, that scenario has been through my mind recently and I think that would be a very depressing if highly likely end to the season.

It may even be our turn to win a play off final....the oppositions central defender slicing his clearance to the feet of Chris martin who bangs it in the net with hardly any time left on the refs watch. A mixture of joy and despair as rams fans realise they will be starting a PL campaign with Wassall in charge :-/

Surely not..Wassall is only temporary to the end of the year......then we recruit a proper experienced manager.....it really would be bitter sweet otherwise for me.

Its not a scenario thats crossed many peoples mind as the general assumption was that we wouldn't make the play offs never mind win the final..but imagine if we did get promoted under Wassall, would Mel really replace him with someone else?

Or is the plan that the manager we reruit is dependent upon which league we end up in? In that unlikely but possible scenario we start next season in the prem, then the calibre of manager and the resources available would be a game changer, is that Mel's gamble?

Wouldn't be surprised if that's MM's thinking; he is clearly a strategic thinker...
