If protests in ground fail -what next

I was not at the last home game due to work but was aware that there was to be a large protest in the main stand. A spokesman for the group on Radio Stoke on Friday evening even stated that they had 450 ready to protest.
On the day a protest took place with a much reduced number taking part.

The first question to ask is why this number was so small and do most fans actually back the manager. They were the majority by there silence.

Do most fans care and are they just happy to turn up week after week and watch Crewe Alex play whatever league we are in.

I am giving the manager the remaining games to show us what he wants for the next season by his team selection. There were players playing on Saturday that should not have started in my view. He knows who he wants to release and they should be out of the team now as they are only playing for their football future as there careers at our club is over.

If he continues as he did on Saturday I will not be renewing my season

Like you I will not be renewing my S.T., this after holding one for thirty years plus.I feel as supporters we have been completely ignored by the club.I sincerly hope that the club can pull out of this continual bad run but doubt it under the present management and it seems that the decision has been made to give Davis another season.

Not renewing season tickets seems the most obvious way of demonstrating anger against the continued retention of Davis. Saturday's protest demonstrated that the majority of those attending appear content either to believe Davis should continue or to accept the inevitability that protest is ineffectual and not going to change the Board's stance. I want Davis out, but it may be that the majority of performances during the last three seasons have simply numbed the majority of supporters this season into meekly accepting relegation as an inevitability whatever Davis did. Quite the wrong attitude in my humble opinion, but possibly the prevalent mind-set.

.....or maybe there are people like me that want the boardroom sorting out first. I want Davis out as much as anybody else but i don't trust this board to make the correct appointment once Davis has gone. Dario was a one-off and we'll probably never see one like him again but look at the recruitment since then, Gudjon = awful, Holland = awful, Davis = inherited a good side and achieved with them, however, this is now his squad and it's dire. Why would this sequence suddenly change?

The board don't care about the supporters at all, we are continuously lied to or not communicated with. One person in particular was only ever interested in his return from his shares and never about the club. We continue to employ useless idiots that are completely incompetent (marketing). If it hasn't been already, Gresty Road is going to be sold from under us but we don't know how the proceeds are to be utilised.

Surely this points out who is the real problem at Gresty Road. Davis could be go

Agreed. Sorting out the boardroom is the ultimate solution. The marketing side is awful and, even if the Board does little else, you would think that a focus on bringing in further advertising/sponsorship revenue would be a priority - even if the extra revenue was not destined for the first team. The continued reduction in season ticket revenue may force a change, but the Club has been here before and any changes likely to emanate from this Board will do little to boost the first team.

As for replacing Davis, an internal appointment is inevitable. The Board will want someone who will not rock the boat. It may be that such an appointment would bring some positive changes to tactics and selection, though I cannot see anything better than a mid-table finish next season. It will take someone from outside calling the financial shots before an external appointment would be made. Of course, there are no guarantees that such an appointment would bring success, but at least there woul

It's all about trying a different approach now. Those who believe we shouldn't take a risk are resigned to failure because Steve Davis won't change a thing about his managerial style. Next season will be miserable under him in League Two.

As the board appear to be retaining Steve Davis that's 15 years of me holding a season ticket down the drain. Difficult decision and not one I'd like to make but where is the enjoyment watching this football club now? Where's the entertainment and our traditional attacking ethos? I will spend my Saturday's pursuing alternative interests next season rather than watching a bunch of kids get hung out to dry by a blameless Davis for losing 3-0 at home to Morecambe/Newport/Cheltenham etc each week.
