i must admit I like fast, direct footyball. Too many sides fannying around thinking they are Barca nowadays, Pompey included. If you have great players like Barca it is pleasing on the eye. If you have average players like us then it is like watching paint dry. How many square passes across the back four do you need? Just my personal taste and not a comment on what is successful or not but direct football has worked for Leicester this year.

I prefer the game based on ball skill rather than the English blood and thunder tactics with a premium on passion, work rate and up and at'em. Doubt Messi would be quite as prolific playing in the Prem, also think he would spend more time in the treatment room.
Ronaldo however coped very well with Man Utd, but then he is faster, stronger, better in the air, etc. than Messi.
Ronaldo at his best is my favourite footballer. Big English lumps like Carrol at West Ham I don't like at all.

I like watching Southampton playing, when they lose, it makes me happy.
We were talking about players we liked watching yesterday at work coincidentally. I like Robben, just a shame he falls over like a fairy at the slightest touch, or even non touch.
Don't necessarily have a problem with Carrol, typical old style British centre forward, and good with his head, good left foot as well actually.

Yeh, blood and thunder thats what we wants. Icy pitches, rock hard balls Readers Digests for shinpads, goalkeepers removing their front teeth before matches , goalmouth dustups, blood-soaked bandages, crunching tackles and players trying desperately hard to show they hadn't got a broken leg. Trevor Hockey, come back all is forgiven. You were right after all.

Corky mentioned Blakey and Billy Gilbert Saturday, before he went off to his posh lunch. I added Kennedy and Tait. Those were the days and I for one loved those days Many players have their thoughts set on their hols at this time of the season and the Swans were like that on Sunday. Wonder what sort of patched up team we will put out tonight ?

I fondly remember "Yosser" Tait.......one of the opposition would clatter one of our players and with the encouragement of the North Terrace "Yosser" would chase that player all over the Park until he would clatter him back.......cue innocent face as the Ref came over to "have a word"! Oh those were the days!!!
