I hope the top three do go up

(Of our little top six mini league)

A lot of people keep talking about how the top three will go up. If you look at the mini league of the current top six using the games against each other we are currently 3rd. Win by 2 on Monday and we'll be second on goal difference.

    Middlesbrough P9 W6 D2 L1, Total Points 20, Points per game 2.22
    Burnley P10 W3 D5 L2, Total Points 14, Points per game 1.40
    Derby P9 W2 D5 L2, Total Points 11, Points per game 1.22
    Brighton P8 W1 D6 L1, Total Points 9, Point per game 1.13
    Hull P10 W2 D3 L5, Total Points 9, Points per game 1.13
    Sheffield Wed P10 W0 D7 L3, Total Points 7, Points per game 0.70

We are still 3rd if you go down to the top 8 teams mini league.

I think this is a fair reflection of our chances. Our game is played best against a team who also want to play football, and not defend and hope to nick the game on the counter. It is also my belief teams lower down the league have raised their game against us more than Brighton for exa

Interesting stats Sma11y...looking at those figures Boro' should be out of sight but after last night it's certainly 'squeaky bum' time for them.
Not sure how getting just 11/27 points from the other top clubs supports your conclusion about how we play best against the better sides, but Boro' must have really messed up against some of the 'lesser' sides...how important those points we dropped against Leeds, MK Dons, Bolton, Rotherham and Charlton now seem.

Well what we do know is its down to how we perform over the next 2 games and then we take it from there.

be interesting to know what people think of our chances?

I take your point gaRmAna. Suppose I am relying on our performances against Hull, Shef Wed last week, Burnley away was poor.

Where the differences lies in the league standings for Burnley and Brighton is they have taken 11 more points off the bottom eight teams than us. Which shows your point about points lost. What is more shocking is Boro have taken 8 less than us from the bottom 8, making a staggering 19 less than the other two. Boro seem to have an issue about raising there game against lesser teams, perhaps an arrogance issue.

Those figures tell us we don't want Boro to fall into the playoffs!! My personal opinion does not favour us, I go for whoever misses out on auto beating Hull in the final!!
