Although I feel very sorry for George and wish him a fast and successful recovery. If you objectively look at his game lately he has not been that good. He has given the ball away on numerous occasions which have led or nearly led to a goal against us. He also struggles to last 90 minutes. I do like his commitment and determination but I don't think it will be such a bad thing to be without him at the moment.
Important yes, ***** no.
He does tend to slow our play down, but he is very good and gives protection to the back four and allows the 500k valued Hughes and Bryson to go forward...so he is important.
Spot on Paulo...he's not had a great season but it's his contribution to the balance of the team and the fact that he allows others to perform their own crucial roles which is so important. How he is replaced and how well that replacement performs is what is now *****.
Its easy to spot the time he gives the ball away and somehow his reputation in his loan period with us seems to be that he never did that. But others give the ball away too. No other player fills the cdm role as good as him and if you don't spot his strength in the tackle and his defensive interceptions and his ability to spot a quick pass ( yes he still can do these) .If fit he would still be in our best 11.
If Thorne was fit, Johnson wouldn't have played. Therefore Thorne was essential.
Can't disagree with that triz Johnson was poor and gave the ball away for their first goal. But Johnson didn't play in Thorns position our absolutely useless thick manager put our best attacking mid fielder in there. Thick or what.

Was Weimann injured?
I was surprised he wasn't on the bench.
Think Hughes as DM was right call, just. Should have been Butterfield instead of Johnson though, so we still had someone who can pick a pass in an advanced role.Originally Posted by ramspride
Think the whole team was a bit flat tho, and luck was certainly against us.
