Fan complacency and the premier league.

With the perceived lack of excitement with the play offs this week I was just thinking about fans now easily become complacent when they have it good.

Charlton is a great example when they had Alan curbishley and a stable pl club. They wanted change for the sake of change when they were punching well above their weight.

Now look at the in the third tier of football again and lost. How many would like to go back and change what they were after 10 years or so ago?

It's a fine line and rather than people being so expectant we could easily miss out and go on a slide like the red dogs have after their two play off seasons.

Appreciate and applaud you trying to keep things going on here by being contentious, Rats, but it's only really your 'perceived lack of excitement' and you don't go anyway...apparently.

Nothing to do with 'complacency' imo...lack of belief, fear of another 'false dawn' maybe, but not 'complacency'. The daft time and the fact that it's on TV might mean there isn't a complete sell out but there will still be well over 30,000 Derby fans there tomorrow.

Can't see any parallel at all between us and Charlton or Forest. Charlton made an enormous mistake in not appreciating Curbishley's achievements...when did we do that? Forest's major problem is that their owner has little idea about English football and appears to view the club as a 'plaything' to fuel his sense of self importance and I don't think that applies to MM either.

I also think the fact that there isn't a "result" on the day to either celebrate or mourn is a factor too.
If it was the second leg at home with a result on the night...I believe it would add to the crowd
