    New defender

See we are being linked with a move for Grant Hanley of Blackburn now there is a lad who can defend as hard as nails. Would not mind his defensive partner Duffy neither

Grant Hanley works for me, well not literally but you know what I mean.

Why would he want to come here? We are not doing our reputation much good as of late with some of the players we have bought and they never get a look in

Being linked by who? When does the window open? Is this just the usual agent "non story" leak to try and a good deal for his client? "I know Derby are not afraid to splash a bit of cash. Let's make up a story that they're interested and see what happens"

apparently its in the Sun: re-broadcast by a website called HITC. They reckon we are bidding £2.5m but sister newspaper the Times says Rangers are bidding £ 3m. As Hanley is a sweatie, I'm prepared to bet where he will be headed given those options.

Why would he want to come here? Because we're a wealthy Championship Club who've narrowly missed out on promotion (probably) - again - with great support, a Premiership Stadium and Premiership quality training facilities...but apart from that, who can say?
Seriously though...don't think we should be sanctioning any signings without the new manager's approval.

    re: New defender

Well its transfer silly season about to start up, and here we are probably constrained by last year's buyng as to what we can now buy without first selling. Bear in mind that the last couple of year's purchases still eat their 25% of cost against this year's allocation, so don't expect much in before a clear out. That clear out itself should not happen without the new manager's say so, so get a move on Dieter.

Oh yes, and much as I hate to say it, it has to be time for the return of TMDS urging the spending of tens of millions more of not his money!

So even if this were to happen I cannot see it happening for at least a month of 6 weeks.

Hanley is a quality player. Your typical no nonsense centre back. Real aerial presence on him.

From our perspective how would he fit in though? We currently have five centre backs. I imagine at least one will leave in the summer, but either way we have enough cover so he's not coming for that (especially when he's apparently costing millions!). Then we have two of the best centre backs in the division in Keogh and Shackell. Unless he's seen as a long term replacement for Shackell?

I'd give this rumour a 3/10 chance of happening.

I don't agree about Shackell & Keogh!! I want centre backs that make the oppo strikers **** themselves and Keogh certainly don' t do that!!
