Football league expansion to 5 divisions

Talks of expanding football leagues to 5 teams of 20 by 2019.

    Premier League, then 4 divisions.

Lets hope some of the money filters down or championship will just become more of a premier league 2

    Possibility of old firm joining?

You have to see this from 2 viewpoints - how it affects the national game, and its affect on RUFC.

The possible inclusion of Prem B teams looks, to me, like an indicator that the top teams in the Prem will be heading to a Euro Super League. The B teams could, in theory, gradually work their way up to the Prem, to replace their bigger brothers.

An additional division would make sense if the long-term plan was to turn divs 3 & 4 into regional competitions - north, south - with promotion to the equivalent League 1.

Can't see any benefits for Rotherham from these arrangements. Personally, hate the idea of Prem B teams infiltrating the FL.

Promotion to/relegation from the Prem must remain at three places, there would be no relegation out of the league 2018/19 season
However they dress it up its just being done for the Prem B teams.

Let's hope the majority vote against it.

EFL are also bringing in new rules for next season, can't wait for more boll ocks from officials.

Further to that, this can only lead to higher ticket prices for most fans, and the distinct possibilty of more clubs going to the wall.

More leagues but doesn't it also mean less games per season?

So 40 games instead of 46?

So 3 lots of home revenue will be lost to the club?

I also assume that players wages won't be less for playing less games. Wages of support staff would be the same as many " behind the scenes" will be salaried.

In the lower leagues there will have to be more players on part time or pay per game contracts.

My initial thoughts is that this will be a disaster for most league clubs and will probably see the end of promotion to the Premiership because the two organisations will split.

They want to cut the mid-week games out and have a winter break

    More sanitisation of football.

Actually going to a game will be a thing of the past.
