    Big Derek has his say

THE formation of Club 1872 is a really positive step for the supporters and for Rangers.

It will undoubtedly help the club in terms of the money that is raised to fund projects and it will give the fans a real say in how decisions are made at Ibrox.

But it will also give supporters a voice and that is as important as ever in the aftermath of events at Hampden on Saturday.

All the supporters are as one and they will make themselves heard as one. They will defend the club and they will defend the fans.

There will be times where Rangers supporters are in the wrong, of course there will. No support, of any club, is perfect and we are all aware of that.

But when things are thrown at us then it is only right that they back their side and back their fellow fans. You can’t blame them at all for that.

In their statement on Thursday night, Club 1872 claimed that Rangers and the fans are ‘fair game by an unpleasant and active minority who attach themselves to several Scottish fo

The police have to have a look at themselves. These are the worst scenes we have had for a while, and we hoped we would never see it again after the 1980 game. But, here we are drawn back to that era again.

All the stewards are doing is standing in a line behind the goal. If you have got thousands of people coming over the wall at the same time, what are you supposed to do? I think the police were slow to react and that was a problem.

You have to ensure the safety of the players, but the Rangers players never even got a chance to get off the park because the fans were coming from both sides and behind the goal so they couldn’t reach the tunnel.

There were very few police in that area. Whether they were taken aback or not, I don’t know. But they certainly made mistakes.

Fans shouldn’t be on the pitch, but it is different if they are at their end and are celebrating. When they start assaulting and abusing players and goading opposition supporters then that is a completely dif

    Superb Big DJ.

I used to have him down as a bit of an Uncle Tim. He always had to take care when rubbing shoulders with the Radio Clyde CSC. Now hopefully he'll be free to speak his mind. This is a cracker of an article. Agree with every word.

so in the world of buns now

No one should criticise you for taking part in violent disorder if you didn't start it.

Chairmen of other clubs are disgusting if they dont condemn violence they are oblivious to at the time of speaking to the media.

Receiving runners up medals is not what is normally the case, something players hate to go through, but an important experience that should be milked.

And no one likes us we do care

They were too busy threatening other clubs if they didn't gloss over the malpractices that were going on at the Pox. And the torn face bigots think people hate them because they are like Man U
