We will never know if its value for money as we , rightly, don't know his deal. He's not someone I'd have been upset to see moving on. He's been a poor return over his time and supposed experience.

Disagree as feel we need experience in the middle of our defence and he can hopefully bring younger players on him and McDonald were main 2 I was hoping signed on so half way there

I imagine most will be happy with his extension.

Now we wait for decisions from Hammell, Lasley, McFadden, Hall and McDonald. - view external link

I'm happy with this news. It gives us some consistency and experience in an important part of the team.

I somewhat echo what has been said above and feel in the time that he has been here, he has dissapointed more than pleased. I would have been happy to see him move on, just my opinion though.

Great bit of news . The league will be more competitive than in previous seasons and we'll need all the experience we can muster. I also hope Las , Hammy and Skippy sign too. Mix in some youngsters and maybe a signing or 2 n perhaps we can compete with most . Let's hope so .

Dreadful news. He's been a disaster for most of his 3 years. Lazy and only plays when it suits him. Can't believe I've just renewed my season ticket to watch this bomb scare yet again. Along with Pearson should have been aloud to leave.
Lazy signings as we have no scouting system that allows us to identify half decent replacements released by other clubs. Don't tell me they are not out there, we've had decent players in the past. Other clubs have picked up cracking players ICT and Ross county for sure. This was easy option.

We need guys like Mick, lasleyhammell to stick around blend them with the good crop we see coming through and sorted!I honestly think we will have a really good squad next season.

Interesting mix of opinions. I don't think there's any doubt McManus hasn't lived up to his billing - former league winner, Champions League player, ex-international etc - but without knowing the money he's on and how easy it would have been to replace him (given the age of our other centre halves, had he gone we'd have needed a new, experienced first-choice pick and they don't grow on trees at our budget) I find it hard to be massively critical either.

What I do have a concern with though is the two-year deal for a 33-year-old...unless someone is a total stand-out, there's no way we should be offering more than one-year contracts to players that age (keepers prob excepted).
