    Quiz question

Just heard this on the radio.
Now that Spain's 14 match unbeaten run in the Euros is at an end, who holds the longest unbeaten record in the competition, having not lost in 10 games?

Nah Eric. Its Euro tournament games.
This team has not lost a game at the Euros since their first game of the 2004 championships and have been knocked out on penalties ever since.

So does losing on penalties not count then as losing the game? If that's the case how come England (maybe the answer to this quiz?) didn't get further in many tournaments?

I thought that it can't be England because of penalty misses, but it seems question is on the games playing time, not including the shoot outs.

    It is indeed England.
Lost 2-1 to France in 2004, beat Croatia, beat Switzerland, drew with Portugal, drew with France, beat Sweden, beat Ukraine, drew with Italy, drew with Russia, beat Wales, drew with Slovakia.

Penalty shoot outs are to decide who goes through to the next round, the games count as draws.

I expect our next loss to also be to France btw
What a complete **** up by Roy, had we won last night we would have avoided the half of the draw with France/Italy/Spain and Germany, leaving us with a good chance of making the final.

If the draw had gone to plan we would have still been in the half of the draw with Spain and Portugal. As it happens the 3 expected group winners from BDF could all end up 2nd and in with the ACE group winners. Maybe BDF were harder groups? Maybe ACE were easier groups. We generally have a better track record against 'top' teams so maybe it'll be for the best. After all so far we have drawn with Russia (on their way home) and a sterile Slovakia and won with a last minute toe poke against Wales. Hardly inspiring so what's to say we wouldn't lose to Albania or Turkey and end up with the usual egg on our faces.

The bookies dont agree CA. England have gone from 7-1 4th favourites to 12-1 7th favourites. Belgium and Croatia has been cut drastically as they are set to be in the more comfortable side of the draw.
The point is that whilst England are capable of beating one of the big teams on their day, they are very unlikely to beat two or even three.
