    Hello, help needed

Just moved to Rotherham due to job location and being a footy fan I want to start to go to matches again.

Not interested in either Sheffield clubs so looking at what's on offer at RUFC or the newly promoted Barnsley.

Out of touch with both so any tips or advice about pay on day or season tickets (my favourite option) would be greatly appreciated.

Barnsley is cheaper for season tickets unless you're 60 to 65 in which case Rotherham is cheaper because you have to be 65 to get a concessionary ticket at Oakwell.

Barnsley's ground is bigger than Rotherham's so you have more empty seats, plus you're sitting further away from the action, so less cosy, decent views though in the East Stand (lot of stairs to go up though to the Upper East Stand), home stand I don't know.

Rotherham has decent views from most seats because of the steepness of the stands.

Food prices were a bit cheaper at Rotherham last time I looked.

There's a bookie inside the ground at Oakwell but with online betting that's less important.

Half-time entertainment at Oakwell is two kids taking penalties against the mascot, and at Rotherham it's pre-teen cheerleaders, so neither particularly good.

Parking I would say, more free parking in Rotherham, loads of cones are put up around Oakwell when there's a game on, they do actually have a big public car park there though but it's not free and it's a pain to get out of at the end of the game.

Quality of football is about the same, Championship but fighting relegation.

    Plenty of pubs for both.

That's about it I think, why not visit both grounds before buying a season ticket?

The NYS is well designed - it's a great view from anywhere in the stadium and you're not far from the pitch

Join as a steward for a couple of weeks.
Then you can see first hand all the stands at the NYS .
    The nicey nicey family stand
The usually half empty away stand.
The real supporters in the North stand.
    Or the other lot.

There's nothing nicey nicey about family stand according to some.

More chance of getting in an argument or thrown out in north stand

There's two sides to the west stand, prawn sarnies in the middle with the educated football fans either side

We eat the most pukka pies

You can get to our players coach

Let's not forget the ones that always leave early no matter what .

    Better parking.

    Oakwell
    Rubbish parking
Can't get anywhere near players coach (mardy)
They do produce some talent now and then for Everton.

West Stand at New York is the hip place to be.

Well respected professional people like myself and a scattering of interlopes such as millertop and redandgreen.

No swearing or Neanderthal behaviour in the West Stand and at half time we talk politics and I do a medical advisory session.

I wonder why anyone would take a job in Rotherham but that's for another day.

If you remain on here prepared to be addressed as Mandt and put your tin hat on at all times.
