    A great opportunity missed!

I got on the Virgin Train Service at Crewe this morning in the First Class of course. and just a few seats away was Jose Mourinho who was obviously travelling up from London to Manchester to take a training session and introduce Pogba to the media and I looked at him and he looked down on me.. and I thought should I, should I ask him a football question on academies and why, despite all the money our big clubs are spending on them, how come the England team do so badly in the World Cup and his team at Chelsea had so few of our own? I then was going to ask him if its because of natural ability that foreign players have that we don't and..... btw....could lend us a couple of players?

But then I noticed a really big guy sitting opposite him who was clearly his bodyguard and thought better of it...I even thought he would call the train manager as why he couldn't travel in peace without some idiot asking him daft questions like, how's Eva going on...

He got off at Wilmslow and stood by the carriage door for 20 mins before it arrived there and wondered whether that was part of his fitness workout regime....Oddly that's the second time I have seen him on a train, the last time he was travelling up to Liverpool when they were about to play Everton...

Maybe third time I will be lucky and get to ask him those questions but I think I would have to lay out his bodyguard first...

I think you have it all wrong Mike. I believe Mourinho is too shy to ask you for your views on academies and that is why he stood up for 20 minutes trying to pluck up the courage to ask you.

It’s either that or he is stalking you.

It is difficult often to know what is best in such circumstances. Given that he has had to defend recently his track record in developing young players, he might have welcomed the opportunity. You could have opened by asking about Steve Holland given the Crewe connection. However, we can all be clever after the event, and I would probably have done nothing and regretted missing the opportunity.

Yes, very good point about the Steve Holland connection which I thought about afterwards. He (SH) has done really well to remain at Chelsea with all the different managers and wonder whether that will continue?

Just back on whether to ask anyone things that are in the public eye like him...Aye its difficult as to know what to do because people are entitled to their privacy after all. But yes a SH question may have gone down OK..
