    1931/32 League Medal

An interesting piece in the Evening Times -

A RARE Scottish football medal is going up for auction in Glasgow.

The league winners’ medal from 1931/32 is from the only Motherwell FC team to be crowned Scottish Champions.

John McMenemy was part of the team that finished five points ahead of Rangers and broke the Old Firm stranglehold on the trophy of the previous 28 years.

The auction at McTear’s on Friday will be a family affair with one of John’s father, Jimmy’s Celtic medals also for sale.

You hope that the club might bid for this. It's a very rare medal and an important one from an MFC perspective. Even in our financially constrained situation £2,000 should be affordable (that's the predicted sale price; of course it could go higher).

The club - or even the Society - should be buying this (or trying to, at least!).

It seems that the medal was sold for £6,500! The Motherwell Times says the buyer was from "down south".
