To be honest Brin, really would rather trust Stubbs than Heckingbottom judging squad players. Also as much as I would like to see Barnsley stay up I really don't see them as a great threat. Time will tell as they say.

When you get a manager that is used to seeing a certain quality of player. Anyone better, he has will always look good.
If like in our case we have 7/8 quality players they don't stand out as much.

I think that could be the case with Allen. At hibs he looked a great player. Sell him to Celtic he looked avg (compared to there midfield)
Stick him in with Frecks smallwood. Voukes caskey ect he starts to look avg
I KNOW. It's early door and he could come good , unfit ect. Time will tell

So when a manager says "you make other players better" he actually means "you are so crap you make the other players look better". Explains a lot about my playing days

Caytonmiller I agree with about Allen. Think he'll come good. Matter of getting right players round him. With our defence we'll always need one in front of them protecting them, Halford. Vaulks another who can win the ball. Then Allen with Taylor on the right, D Ward on the left till Newell comes back.

Taylor looked ok on the right, put him on the left all he does is cut inside all the time. That wasn't effective even against league 2 opposition.
