    Ugly Or Pretty football?

I have got to admire A/S for trying to play football but our squad is not good enough in this league to play football.Do not get me wrong I would love us to play pretty football but I think A/S is trying to run before he can walk.I would rather stay up playing ugly in your face 110% than pretty football & go down.Survive this season, recruit well next year get a full pre-season under his belt & then we will see if we have enough quality in our squad to play pretty football.

Lol, I found myself nodding in agreement as I read your post until I reached "...recruit well next year..." If Shylock Stewart and his brood remain in charge it'll be the usual cast-offs and loanees. I am at this very moment attempting to secure some Chinese investment but it might involve letting them build a nuclear power station at Herringthorpe.

You can't play ugly, you'll have half of the team banned. In your face football. Passing game is boring to watch.

Adeyemi to win the ball along with Vaulks. Give ball then to players who can make things happen. Frecks is out so play Allen in his place. He's a direct player. Taylor & Brown on the wings. Though I was told last night from somebody whose seen Brown play that he his a striker.

    How about winning football?
Good managers don't get too hung up on a particular style of play but are flexible enough to adjust formations and tactics to meet the needs of each game.
I doubt if we can assemble a squad which will be good enough to "out - football" most teams in our division, but I'll be happy to be proved wrong.
At the end of the day we're going to need a combination of reasonably skilful players and battlers because that's what we'll need to survive again in this division.

This ^^, we need effective football, regardless of style. Talk about formations etc all you want, if we cut out the individual mistakes we're making at the moment we'll start to stay in games longer, and be able to impose ourselves a little bit more on them, and that's the key in this division.
