Bearing in mind that Malta are ranked 176th in the world it will be a black day for Scottish football if we cannot beat them. However, the backbone of the Scottish team still comprises Berra, Greer, Hutton, Hanley, R Martin, C Martin, S Fletcher and Naismith. These players have proved not up to qualification in the past; why does Strachan now think that 2018 will be any different to 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014 and all the European Championships in between? To paraphrase a saying by Einstein, insanity is selecting the same losing players over and over again and expecting them to become winners.
