    Jim Patterson

A older local gentleman handed me two newspaper article cut outs, saying he thought they might interest me . One was after the death of Jim Patterson and it's an interesting look at Jim's football life at Queens. Don't know of if anyone has read it before but here goes . PS I have one for Bobby Black also and will put on soon.

Just in case you don't know, JRS, the players in the photograph are: standing Dougie Sharpe, Roy Henderson and Jimmy Binning; seated Jimmy McGill, Big Jim himself and Wattie Rothera. I can't travel up the A9 through Perth without thinking about Jim Patterson as I pass the sign for Luncarty. Big Jim was, of course, signed from Luncarty Juniors, arguably the best signing we ever made.

This was the first thing I said when I passed the Luncarty sign, referencing Jim Patterson.

The guy who handed me the cuttings went through the names of the team as if reading the alphabet. Thanks anyway Cresswell.

The article on the Queens Official site Legends section on Big Jim Patterson is worth reading as well as the above newspaper obituary.

I new Jimmy McGill when we both played golf together at Kilsyth and played a couple of times with Big Jim at Lochmaben. Wattie Rothera was a past captain at Crow Wood where I play now. Nice to see the photo JRSLEFTPEG posted with them sitting together as I am old enough to have seen them playing together for the South.
