Is Kirky the answer to all our defensive problems?

    I don't think he is…

Before you all start diving in….. this isn't about Kirk Broadfoot this is aimed at the ineptness of our *cough* pre season recruitment attempts…

Last season he was slated by some.

Now some think he's our saviour.

    It's laughable really.

    I think your correct Brin

I thought it was the season before last where he was slated? Last season he was a folk hero after coming back from the 10 match ban.

To answer the OP I don't think we can pin all our hopes on a 30+ player coming off back surgery.

He was the year before your correct.

Last year after his ban some claimed he was too slow and past it.

I think he's ok against the long ball but when we played Bristol city for example they would have ripped him apart with the pace.

I would agree we're better with him yes but he's not our saviour.

One man never makes a defence although he is a "talker" - I gringe every time I hear that a player is a "talker" - they all should be....Our defensive frailties were less prominent against Huddersfield as you would expect at this stage of the season.

We brought in players we could afford - fee / wages....and then it was up to AS to drill them into a defensive unit....a settled side would help and AS has experimented from game to game - but I think players are responding.

We had a weird pre-season HAMPERED by Mr Warnock's dithering - that set us back and we have been playing catch up - but we have improved.

No one is expecting anything today - looking at the Newcastle team on paper is awesome ....GOOD LUCK LADS!

To the central defence yes. Kirk with Ball will be alot stronger. But we've still got to keep Fisher & Mattock fit or not suspended, Not got much in the way of cover for them especially at Left back though Newell could play there.
