Rangers fan done for singing a song

A RANGERS fan who was brought up a Catholic has been found guilty of sectarian singing at a game.

Lewis Bain, 22, was fined after being caught on police video shouting out offensive lyrics at the SPFL match against Kilmarnock.

Lori Pidgeon, prosecuting, told Kilmarnock Sheriff Court: "He had his hands raised above his head and was singing the football song Super Rangers.

"He continued to chant and the officer's captured him on camera singing: "We hate Celtic f****n b******* and we'll chase them anywhere."

He was detained at half time due of the volume of supporters in the stand and spent a night in custody.

Bain, of Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, who attended Catholic primary and secondary schools, admitted engaging in behaviour likely to incite public disorder by shouting sectarian remarks in August.

Bain's agent told the court: "He is a Rangers supporter but does not hold a season ticket and attending home games is an important part of his spare time.”

"It's fair to say the accused is shocked and upset. He had his head in his hands when he saw images of himself behaving in this manner.

"Lewis Bain was brought up a Catholic at primary and secondary school, found himself caught up in the moment and in no way has any deep-rooted prejudices.

"He sang this song once and was allowed to stay in the stand until half time."

Sheriff David Hall fined Bain £700 and told him: "You should be embarrassed at your behaviour. It's simply not acceptable to behave this way at the football."

He said he had considered issuing football banning order but decided against it.

22 year guy given a criminal record for singing a song, was any public disorder likely because of this song?

The sheriff is so out of touch also, not acceptable to sing a song at the fitba, Scotland is phuked criminalising young men for singing songs in an environment where people shout and swear constantly is an incredible level of stupidity.
