My Final Plea to Alan Stubbs

We have Derby, Aston Villa and Cardiff just above us at present. With their recent managerial changes, they will surely now push on.

So we have our mini league left which I see as :-

    POINTS GOAL DIFFERENCE
    Barnsley 16 3
    Burton 14 0
    Preston 14 - 2
    Wigan 10 - 2
    Blackburn 9 - 8
    Millers 6 - 16

Doesn’t look good. I suspect it will look a lot worse by the end of the month.

Change your tactics Mr Stubbs and get some fire and fight into an attacking formation. Forget this passing around at the back cr*p. Forget the passing backwards and sideways strategy. Forget the keeping possession tactic. None of this works and it alienates the supporters from the players. You have already alienated yourself from us.

Face facts, unless you change, you may take this club down with the envious record of the worse stats in the club’s history.

You have nothing to lose. These young lads should be able to run all day. You need to tell players to get in the oppositions faces, niggle em, frustrate em, do not give the opposition players an inch. Tell the players they must tackle and tackle hard. They must cover each other’s moves and they must track back quickly when they lose the ball. Get players forward to support Danny Ward or play two up front. Do something but do not continue with the current format. It is boring, it is losing games, we are now adrift at the bottom of the table, that should tell you something of the tactics you have employed to date.

    Can you change?

All millers fans are saying the same as you Pete but Stubbs is not for turning. We will play this way all season even if we are 30 points adrift. The more disturbing thing is going to be when we play the same way in Div 1 next year. TS needs to tell Stubbsy to change tactics NOW or if he cant or wont then tell him to ferk off.

Your tactics are NOT working Stubbsy. Everybody can see it but you.

    Totally agree Pete and roly.

I'm watching the Owls/Hudders match and they're pinging the ball around one touch at pace like a pinball.

How the hell are we going to compete with them playing the same style? We're not. We're going to get mullered must weeks or get get lucky, ala Brentford.

Our only hope is to play a dirty disruptive in your face anti- football battling game.

Funnily enough Stubbs was that type of player, so why is he trying to play the beautiful game?

Credit him for trying but it's like we're racing F1 McLaren's with an 1100 Wartburg!

Under Moore, Evans and Warnock at this level we knew what we were and what we needed to do to compete and at least give ourselves a chance of surviving at this level.

Tippy tappy one pace football and allowing the opposition all the time in the world on the ball certainly wasn't part of the agenda.

Aggressive, in you face, pressing, not allowing the opposition to settle was the order of the day and it gave us the supporters something to by into and cheer the lads on.

I'm a realist, I don't expect us to win every week, but I do expect to come out of the match thinking we've given it a bloody good go and competed and that we've been beaten by the better team.

There's been plenty of occasions this season where I can't say that and as Pete says above, unless Alan Stubbs is willing to listen and change his ways then there's going to be plenty more.

Stubbs' major problem was trying to do too much too soon, changing personnel, changing style of play, looking to introduce and develop young players... All probably creditable objectives - but things that needed to be done seamlessly over time, not overnight. Wholesale changes on this scale might work in the Scottish leagues but in the Championship it's a massive gamble. I wouldn't say as a result he's a poor manager but results to date have highlighted his naivety, lack of experience - and, thus far, inflexibility.

Pretty good, Pete. On Banter there's a post from a (supposed) Hearts fan lamenting Stubbs leaving Hibs as he was taking them to oblivion. The guy thought our board must have lost their senses taking Stubbs as manager. It's an interesting (if depressing) read.

What do you want Evans style of hump it long ball style.Seem to remember that style getting lots of criticism. What we lack is skillful players because we cant afford them except on loan.Thought we gave them a decent game yesterday but still continue to give the ball away in silly ways look at the second and third goals.Looked a lot better when Blackstock appeared we certainly ruffled their style and for a while at 2-1they looked vunerable, but like all good sides they gradually took back control.Only a few points adrift so give it a while longer.Play Blackstock from the start and get Broadfoot back in.
