As you know I did a recent poll and though there were 26 posts (probably only 15 different posters though) there were over 1200 views. The poll was anonymous so people could have voted and kept their identity safe and it would have added a lot more interest had they voted. I know lots that view but don’t post and I think that’s because it was only a couple of years ago on here that some people became a little abusive/offensive. Posters started to reduce as a direct result of it.

MT is right though, sometimes on here there are more OTs then stuff about RUFC.

I also think that the slow demise of the club has led to fewer and fewer posting, added to the fact that the sight is full of very annoying adverts and constantly locking up.

I have to type in word and then copy and paste into MM. If others have to do this I can see why they don’t bother

The Facebook/Twitter pages are vibrant, fast, informative, funny, popular, up to date, instant and user friendly.

That's the main reason for the low replies.


This site is practically unusable with an iPhone.

Pete, I don't have any of these problems posting, nor do I get adverts or locking up. For people who do it's understandable they would stop bothering. There was a guy on Banter who posted OT stuff by the dozen. A couple of posters didn't like non-footy stuff so he seems to have packed in. Banter now has about 1 OT thread a month and several members say they miss the stuff he used to post. You can't always win.

Pete, many of those views will be the original poster's checking on the poll though, won't they, checking how the vote is going?

Pete, I have been on here pretty much since Bigrich started the site. There was always abuse, there was always as many OT's as there was talk about football. The messageboard has its peak when messageboards were at their peak, when there was no twitter and far less social media in general. In the past after a match I would have posted my thought here, now I might post something on twitter and I have a whatsapp with a few mates where I know I will get replies from friends whose opinions I am interested in. It is just the way things have evolved.
The fact that Rich and then Dean lost interest/got fed up with the haters didn't help but it wasn't the main cause of the slide in popularity, that would have happened anyway.

That is an informed and sensible comment. I have remained true to the site because I don't have twitter, don't have facebook and like to keep in touch with Millers. However, if 3 or 4 of my "favourite" posters on here jacked in I would too.
