Steve McClaren urged the Football Association to consider abolishing FA Cup replays after both Derby and Leicester fielded severely weakened teams on Wednesday night. - External Link
I suspect the additional revenue makes replays quite handy for struggling clubs. Mac chose to field a weakened side last night, not the FA. I don't agree with him.
Can understand how a replay was the last thing either manager wanted last night but for smaller clubs an FA Cup replay can be a real life line. There was a time, not so long ago when FA Cup replays were really exciting. Think I can remember Sheffield Wednesday and Chelsea(?) needing about four replays sometime around 1973 and each match was a sell out. Sad really but in our situation I'd swap going out last night for decent results in our upcoming league matches every time.
Yep...sorry...it's a fair cop.
Sad, deserted shore, your fickle friends are leaving.
Ah, but then you know it's time for them to go.
But I will still be here, I have no thought of leaving,
I do not count the time.
Next two lines? Competition open to all between 55-65.

I am asking myself what is the point of the FA Cup? Whilst I can see why a higher level club may rotate players when playing a lower ranked team, on Wednesday IF we had played our strongest team, then maybe rested 3 players IF winning later on in the game, we stood a very good chance of winning!
If this is how fans are going to be short changed then there needs to be a major rethink on cups, they are becoming as irrelevant as they are in most european countries, how did the FA let a valued brand like the FA Cup be devalued by cynical managers and clubs?
This year Derby had a realistic chance of getting at least to the semi final, now we wait and see if we get into the lottery of the play offs.
Sport surely is about trying to win every game you play in, last night was not a sporting fixture it was a farce and edges me towards giving up following football at this level, totally ****ed off even more so than by the Brexit vote!!
