Football’s governing body has confirmed they are analysing several flashpoints in Sunday’s 1-0 World Cup qualifying win for Scotland against Slovenia – with skipper Brown at the heart of the controversy.

The match ended with the Slovenian players rounding on Brown to accuse the Celtic ace of deliberately stamping on midfielder Jasmin Kurtic.

Just minutes earlier, Brown himself was cynically whacked off the ball by Slovenian Josip Ilicic.

Dutch referee Bjorn Kuipers missed both incidents and took no action against either Brown or Ilicic at the time despite protests from both camps.

Brown himself can argue that TV pictures show he did not look at Kurtic and any ‘stamp’ was purely accidental as he scrambled to rejoin the play.

A FIFA spokesperson confirmed: “We are analysing and gathering information concerning the incidents occurred in the said match and, should it be considered appropriate, disciplinary proceedings may be opened.

“Further details will follow in due time.”

He was going to get someone back for getting whacked, shame it was the wrong bloke.

    Still, no harm done.
