chance of us buying anyone is zero then.

Same old lines were not paying silly money

Personally I'd put 450k price tag on godden and 200k on doidge.

I'm not surprised that the chairman hasn't said "no" to any of the players that Warne has asked for because, as far as I'm aware, they've all been free transfers apart from Proctor who cost the princely sum of £75k.
I'm reasonably optimistic about the coming season but it still seems as though we're trying to do things on the cheap and, once again, we get fed the usual "won't overspend" line when the bigger signings don't materialise.
I just hope Warney doesn't misjudge this because if things don't go well for him he might not be around at Christmas to have another go at signing these two players.

Our recruitment policy baffles me it really does with all the so called bids we have supposed to have put in and the sold players we sold we should have at least 4 million in the bank but will we spend it on players lol no chance. I am optimistic about this season but I'm not optimistic that we will get that checkbook out

The perennial problem we have is that our valuations are invariably out of step with the going rate. Whether that's a deliberate ploy to give the illusion of being in the market without wanting to spend is open to speculation. Nonetheless, I would have thought this season we would be exercising our competitive edge and making the most of being a more attractive proposition. We've certainly done well at the lower end of the market but will we continue to seek out small fry or try and land some bigger fish? We're told repeatedly the money is available but that's of little comfort if it never sees the light of day. Perhaps, we're still being haunted by ghostly spectres of administrations past...

Good post - we always say others over-value and we let ours go on the cheap. Perhaps we are the ones out of touch with player market value?
