A huge shock this morning to learn that he had a heart attack and passed away at the tender age of 66. A wonderfullly talented singer songwriter who will be up there with the best of them in the music hall of fame. I remember seeing him and his band supporting Nils Lofgren here in Cardiff in the mid seventies. They were the only warm up band I have seen to get the audience off their feet. When Nils Lofgren came on , he had the nigh on impossible task of following up a very impressive support act and I knew then that Tom and his band were hot stuff and would go all the way to the top. In fact , it didn' t take them very long to do just that as they rocketed to stardom. I went out and bought their debut album the next day and have still got it. My favourite track by them is "freefalling", amongst the many great songs they have produced. As everyone knowa he was also a valuable member of the Travelling Wilburys who also produced some great music. I can't really add any more to the tributes that have already been made ,except to say I was glad I saw him and his band play live. An everlasting memory which won't be forgotten.
