    Brexit breakthrough

    No hard border with Ireland,
    Talks on trade can proceed
EU must have been worried about May being deposed and recognised trade talks are needed before concluding the Irish border debate.
There are additional guarantees for Northern Ireland and the border, but an undefined statement on "full alignment", if there is no big trade deal.

    What has been agreed?
Guarantee that there will be "no hard border" between Northern Ireland and the Republic maintaining "constitutional and economic integrity of the United Kingdom"
EU citizens living in the UK and vice versa will have their rights to live, work and study protected
Financial settlement which is "fair to the British taxpayer"

It's about time progress was made, a Hard border in Ireland would have been a disaster for the country and expensive for us to police.

Yes, in fact when you look at this you wonder why it took so much time, and if that takes so long then how can trade deals be concluded in what time is left.
The intransigence of the EU is the main cause and one can only hope that they will be more flexible having taken this issue down to the wire. I expect the same approach to a last minute deal on trade.
Mrs Merkel is awfully quiet these days.

    Hooray! Progress.

The devil is in the detail, but I can see many worried by the term "Full alignment"

So far, it looks like being a very soft Brexit.

Personally, I can't see how we can be fully aligned with Ireland and not with the rest of the EU?

If this is not the case, I can see a big temptation for UK businesses to move their HQ's to Ireland. They could then inport/export to the UK without the necessity of possible tarrifs.

What about border controls/free movement? The UK will have an open border with the EU.

Plenty of detail to come out yet.

Had enough of this Brexit farce now.

We was lied too by both sides before the vote.

Most of the leavers on that bus with the BIG sign of 350 Million for the NHS now seemingly hiding their faces.

Remainers "negotiating" our deal (I use the word negotiating loosely), which simply doesn't work.

How can you negotiate with a man (Davis) who seems to be devoid of the working parts of it ?

He's yet again lied through his teeth for all the world to see yet like Boris keeps his job.

And now the EU have finally got their way and are p!ssing themselves laughing they stick the boot in with an announcement that they have done a trade deal with Japan.

And look at what you could have won, the EU trade deal with Japan is FREE

I'd put a laughing smiley at the end of the above sentence but its not phucing funny.

I can see plenty of groaning and gnashing of teeth from the Brexit camp Alto.

It beggars belief that the "Irish Question" was not even considered until the DUP threatened the Tory Party's grasp on power.

so 'full alignment' with the EU in the event of no deal and the ECJ to have the final say on citizens' rights.

    Proper flaccid Brexit.
