Thread: How can Warne say that we were excellent?

How can Warne say that we were excellent?

I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the first sentence of Warney's interview after the game. 'I thought we were excellent' he said. Well Paul I'd love to see a really poor performance then. We were pretty poor (5/10 for me). Passes were backwards or sideways and players did not have a clue what to do with the ball when they got it. I was sat there for most of the match board to tears- it was hardly what you would call excellent.
What about our exciting, forward thinking attacking performances that gave 5-0 and 5-1 wins against Southend and Walsall respectively-they were what you would call excellent!
Then of course he said 'and the lads will go and have their Christmas do.' NOT THE CORRECT ATTITUDE PAUL- YOU ARE MEANT TO BE THEIR MANAGER NOT THEIR BEST MATE!
Warne normally gives pretty good/truthful interviews- but the only word I can give for his comments yesterday is disgraceful!

Must admit I thought it was a poor performance against the worst team to come to us this season.
First half was slow and like a practice game.

    Played better with 10 men.
An average team would have beaten us yesterday.

Warnes comments sum us up in denial.

Already said the same on face book, PHENOMINAL was uttered by Paul on deeda, certainly didn't see anything resembling that. They were the worst team here this season by a mile, and they very nearly won the game. 2 points lost. UTFM!!!

These after match comments from the manager do piss me off tbh and exactly why he shouldn't be manager, if we got hammered 4-0 he would still find to praise them somehow.

If players are getting praised after performances like that then no wonder we are not improving game by game when the players are getting told their doing excellent.

I do think the players are giving everything they can but the quality of play is way down from early in the season atm which was excellent at the time.

If we had done last season what they did to us yesterday then we'd have been happy. The difference in ability was clear to see but we couldn't break them down. The change of formation came too late.

I'm beginning to think he's saying positive things hoping TS is listening.

I can understand a manager that talks up his team but when it's obvious that we weren't excellent then it makes Warne sound like a deluded muppet.

Still the comment ranks second to his "we don't need a defensive coach"

It is stupid to think that we don't need a defencive coach comment is that I bet we're in the minority of clubs that don't have one.

Just look at the attendance yesterday.

Fans have had enough of the same comments coming from the Manager.
If Warne thinks that was excellent then we are in serious long term trouble.

    Question
When was the last time we played well for 90 minuets?

Sometimes froggy it's the manager himself that provides that cover as many were defenders in their playing days. In our case we have two ex forwards.

Other than perhaps Breckin (who is more of a party organiser role) there's no member of the coaching staff that knows the ringcraft of defending. So we continue to make the "schoolboy errors"

Core support btw has dwindled from about 8000 to 7100 after away fan deductions. Walk up pay on the day tickets must have plummeted.

i dont think the players did much wrong yesterday. though im not saying they did much right.
for warne to say we were excellent is a little exaggerated. well a lot exaggerated. we played like a team very low on confidence.. towell is a number 10 and vaulkes is a RB/CB/SUB at best.. more energy when frecks came on.
tbh with the squad we have its prob 10 who would get picked every week. take out. proctor, moore, taylor, potter who for most fans would all start goes to show how thin our squad is.
should we be more patient as several are youngsters? are/will they be good enough?
take a rest from the interview warne and let the others have a few games to bull us.
