    Charlie Austin incident.

Imagine everyone has seen it by now so what do we make of it?
I thought it was a deliberate and cowardly attempt to injure an opponent that could have had much more serious consequences and that he should receive a lengthy ban...months rather than matches.
Lineker did make me laugh with his jibe at a rather embarrassed Shearer at the end of Motd though and his reference to Shearer’s GBH on Neil Lennon (?) many years ago.

ramAnag Your spot on both deliberate and cowardly he could have easily got his foot out of way Hope they throw the book at him Bit surprised never thought he was that type of player Think the worse thing you can do is deliberately injure a fellow pro Shearer that has to be the worse thing I've seen on a football's pitch its funny because I always remember him for that not for his goalscoring If you watch it on Y/tube its even premeditated I can't stand him anyway or Liniker

Deliberate, despicable. Lineker/shearer not much better in their analysis, take a lead from the NFL show analysts guys and get a grip

Three match ban apparently...wholly inappropriate imo. Would have been three months in rugby.

Apparently, he's injured anyway so any 'punishment' will be meaningless.

Maybe, he did it deliberately, so as to get Xmas and the new year off. Sounds far fetched, but over the years I have seen a number of top players do ridiculous things and get sent off just before Xmas.

And on that note merry Christmas everyone.

Is it time for the FA to amend the banning rules? If you are injured, you won't be playing anyway. Fight your way back to fitness. Then make your first appearance when fit. After that game the suspension kicks in.

With the current situation there is no punishment.
