    Jacob Brown

We are delighted to announce that promising young striker Jacob Brown has been rewarded with a new deal at Oakwell.

The striker has been in lethal form for Paul Harsley’s U23s side this season, regularly leading the line and the finding the back of the net in matches.

Signing the new terms, Brown will now be under contract at Barnsley Football Club until the summer of 2020.

“I’m really happy to have signed a new deal.” Brown told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk. “I know there has been faith put in me now to perform and my future is secure for another couple of seasons after this one, so I intend to go out onto the pitch and repay everyone by helping the team.”

Having grown up in Yorkshire, Brown is one of a number of youngsters coming through the youth ranks at Oakwell. He signed for the Reds in January 2015 from Guiseley AFC.

After achieving his first professional contract in November 2016, Brown now feels he can make an impact on Paul Heckingbottom’s first team squad.

He said: “I want to progress now. I’ve played a lot of U23s matches and regularly scored goals, so my target now is to be involved more within the first team set-up. I’ve had a taste of first team action last season and I was really proud to make my debut for Barnsley, so now I’ve had a bit I want some more.”

Paul Heckingbottom was really pleased to see one of the Club’s promising young strikers signed up to a longer contract at Oakwell.

He said: “Browny is a player who has been on the edge of the first team a couple of times and we rewarded him last season by giving him some action against Brentford. We asked him last season to continue listening and working hard, but most of all improving himself as a player. He has done that well and has been further rewarded with a deal that shows what everyone thinks of him. It’s now down to him to continue that progression.”
