Planning applications have been submitted for a real ale / craft ale bar at Wickersley & a micropub at Stag.

I agree. I've only been a couple of times but it was spot on. Rotherham CAMRA recently named it their pub of the year.

The Tap in Wath -Good selection of beers on handpump (think there were five last time I went in ), kept in good condition. Friendly atmosphere. The Tap is too small to have pool table, dartboard ,etc, but there is a small area of outdoor seating too, for when the weather gets warmer.

The new proposed bars should be slightly larger than the wath tap.

The one at Wickersley is also former butchers. The stag one used to be a DIY shop.

The Wath Tap started out ok but now the place seems to be full of dogs (literally). Owners that let the dog wander around and scrounge for crisps and leaving you a slug trail of snot on your trousers. I like dogs and they should be allowed in pubs but there are limits and owners should be more responsible.

I love the idea of it all but unfortunately most pubs dont know how to keep it and it ends up tasting like warm poison...

Popped into Wath Tap when I was back there last summer and enjoyed a 3 glass sampler. Not a dog in sight but I did get a few funny looks from the locals as I'd been to the Red and White shop and had an RUFC carrier bag.
