    Everton game latest

Our last home game for six weeks with three away games next West Brom West Ham and Watford. We really need to get to 40 now and with Wood and Tark back in contention there’s a good chance of our strongest team for some time,

Sam has a good record against us though and Keane seems to got some form back. Hope Aaron shows them what they are missing.

Strong links with lots of players who played for both. -from Everton website

That TEC is bloody useless! I have told him time and again not to edit his own rubbish!

    Norder
Not sure how it relates to Everton but you took me on a journey about the origins of the game.

Rules varied locally and were often formed at school or University, so chaos ensued in inter district games.
The FA was formed at a pub of the same name but in Great Queen St with 12 clubs meeting.of which only three have been constant members and only one still exists and plays league football - Civil Service strollers. some clubs didn’t like the rules and wanted to handle the ball so left and went on to form the Rugby football union. Some FA founder clubs. left and still play Rugby including Blackheath.
The FA cup started in 1871 with 15 clubs buying the trophy. In the North Sheffield rules were in use so in 1877 a universal set of rules was developed with some Sheffield rules being adopted to allow the competition to go uk wide. The FA allowed for payments to players in 1885
The football league started after a meeting at the 1888 Cup final led by Aston Villa’s chairman which led to 12 clubs [Accrington, Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Burnley, Derby County, Everton, Notts County, Preston North End, Stoke (renamed Stoke City in 1926), West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers] meeting in the Royal Hotel in Manchester and was based in Preston and is now back there after moving to Lytham StAnnes though it has a commercial London office.
A second division was added in 1892 with a merger with the rival Football Alliance bringing clubs including Nottingham Forest, The Wednesday (later Sheffield Wednesday) and Newton Heath (later Manchester United) were added to the new First Division, and Darwen were reallocated to the new Second, bringing the First Division total to 16 clubs. With the addition of Northwich Victoria (from The Combination), Burslem Port Vale (later Port Vale, from the Midland League) and Sheffield United (from the Northern League), the Second Division started with 12 clubs.
London clubs didn’t join till 1905.
The EFL cup was a 1960s innovation and was not a great success as European football added to players demands. The top clubs split to form the Premier League in 1992 and switched their allegiance to the FA making it the far more powerful organisation.

Now that’s all your fault Norder.
