Going to US - watch what you post or tweet

    Is this workable?
The Trump administration wants to start collecting the social media history of nearly everyone seeking a visa to enter the US.
The proposal, would require most visa applicants to give details of their Facebook and Twitter accounts.
They would have to disclose all social media identities used in the past five years.
About 14.7 million people a year would be affected by the proposals.
The information would be used to identify and vet those seeking both immigrant and non-immigrant visas.
Applicants would also be asked for five years of their telephone numbers, email addresses and travel history.

Big brother is coming. Would Trumps tweets pass muster?

Just who are they proposing to vet, everyone, people going on holiday/passing through, who only require visa waivers, or just those actually applying for visas whose stays are going to be longer term ?

If it's everyone then it's laughably unworkable, this is after all a country whose immigration service routinely allocates just three officers to deal with planeloads of 400 passengers, just who and where are the staff they'll require to carry out all those checks, they don't exist.
If it's just those that are applying for visas then why not, the whole point of issuing visas is to vet applicants, to root out those you don't want staying in your country before they actually get there, in which case make the checks as thorough as possible. It makes far more sense than our immigration policy of allowing citizens of any EU country to come and go as they please, whoever they are, no matter their reason for coming here, whether they have accommodation, whether they can support themselves or their families etc. Now that really is insane.

We hear from our caring sharing Tory government that we are now really tough on immigration and the detention centres are now full to the max with poor souls waiting for extradition or forcible repatriation.

I'm even reading stories about adults in their sixties who were brought here as children are being sent back "home".

Remarkable really given the fact that our Home Office have no idea whether 600,000 non-British people who have arrived here and been documented as arriving here, have ever left or are still here. That's about the population of a city the size of Nottingham and it's immediate urban suburbs where it's people have vanished in the "system".

What you didn't say is just when these 600,000 entered the country. I am fairly certain that it will have been during the past 20 years when the doors of the country were just thrown open, even to people from countries that were going to enter the EU at a later date.

Yet, BT, you still lay the blame with "our caring sharing Tory government" for the misdemeanours of a war mongering puppet who was in charge of the country when we entered the millennium and who was hell bent on having a multicultural Britain.
The country is in a mess because we have lost our way over the past 30 years because of a total lack of leadership and it isn't going to get any better because there is nobody on the horizon that has any leadership qualities.

It doesn't suit my agenda to even think about blaming Labour Supersub6.

Are you referring to this particular muppet..?

    Attachment 8991

This person is a disgrace to his country and the Labour Party.

His own overinflated delusions of intellectual grandeur are embarrassing to anyone who is associated with the Labour Party.

I would have the duplicitous, lying bas-t-ard tried at the Hague as a war criminal without a moment's hesitation.

600,000 that have been documented, how many cities the size of Nottingham have vanished into the system that haven't been documented ? Probably several, but no one knows, no one in the Home Office or Government has a fecking clue. But never mind the complete and utter shambles of our immigration policies, let's have a laugh at the good old US of A again eh. FFS !!

The man was in it for the money and has done very well for himself and his family generating little of benefit to the countries he was a peace envoy consultant and not bothering about those who got in the way like Dr Kelly.

I lived in the US for 5 years in the mid 80's and I love the country and the good folk but I honestly think it has lost it's core values.

I will never return to a country that is now so bigoted and racist that is beyond my comprehension.
