    A 'Well fan passes

I heard from 'Flow as I was leaving McDiarmid that David Lindsay passed away this afternoon. He was a fixture at Fir Park for over 70 years and had been presented with the Greatest Motherwell fan award at the event in 2007.

He was always happy to chat about Motherwell teams of the past and I remember him speaking of the 8-0 win over Celtic in 1937. Our centre forward, Stewart, was carried in triumph on the shoulders of fans down to the railway station for his train back to Glasgow.

He gave FPC an interview ahead of the League Cup final in 2005 (http://www.footymad.com/motherwell/s...12/index.shtml.

He had suffered poor health in the last year or two and will be sadly missed. He was 91.

Heard this sad news about Davie passing earlier. Such a stalwart at FP and a true gentleman. I didn't know him as a friend, just knew he was a lifelong supporter I bumped into occasionally. Hopefully, our club will do the right thing to reflect his undying support. I reckon there's a good chance fans in Sailor Hunter Stand will 'stand up for Davie' off their own back anyway.
