25 years have passed since Mel left us,only played 9 games, but what an impression he left on those lucky enough to have seen him between the sticks.
God bless you Super Mel
A third of a lifetime........seems like just a few years ago. One of the top keepers to have played for us (even if only a few times!!).
Bet he's getting regular games upstairs.
Such a shame what happened to Mel. He was no age really. RIP Mel.
True hero and such bravery to go out in public when so ill.
These are the people who should be celebrated by TV programmes documenting their lives. Not bloody Towie and reality (?) crap.
Liverpool Home Everton away the finest display of goalkeeping I've ever seen from a Blades goalkeeper.
He left his mark on a lot of people. At the Wembley game against the Pigs seriously hung over waiting in the queue to top up again I missed him walking around the pitch. Three mates who I was with came back down into the concourse tears in their eyes saying Mel didn't have long to go. That was the effect he'd had on people. Only played a few games for us but will always be remembered as a Blades legend.
Best run of outstanding match winning displays thst I can ever recall by a Blades keeper.
RIP MEL,You'll never be forgotten at BDBL.UTCB
Blimey, 25 years ago !!!!!
RIP Mel
I'll never forget your heroics between the sticks in your tragically short career with us.
Such a very sad thing to happen to such a great fella
