    McClean

Seems like its as good as a done deal and he's off to Stoke.

I would say the majority on here will be happy and no doubt he'll get jeered when we play them this season.
I won't do that, because you couldn't ever fault his work rate or effort.

Ultimately, he just didn't have the quality. He will probably be decent enough in the Championship, but he's not the player we want if we go back to being a Prem team.

Anything over £4m is a good deal for us IMO.

I get the feeling Stoke don’t see themselves as a Championship side and that relegation is a short term inconvenience.

I fully expect them to go straight back up.

Why don’t I feel that same about us I wonder!?

£4m = Sturridge's wages at The Hawthorns. A decent gamble at the time.
£4m = what we probably paid The Pole for the season, who Pulis - then Pardew - couldn't get the best out of. (So who sanctioned his Loan without discussing with Head Coach?)
£4m times 4 = what we probably lost not selling Jonny Evans at the same time. A decent gamble at the time.
I don't know whether £4m was what we were worried about when we kept Pulis in charge (and didn't want to pay him off with).
£4m times 4 = what we paid for Liversalts (+ salary) last January.

These all highlight what particularly bad decisions have been made in the last 18 months, and most Prem Clubs will have made similar poor judgement. But it's a sad reflection on the Business today - £4m is petty cash.
I think McClean will be a really good asset in the Championship (not in the Prem, mind). I'd keep him - £4m is peanuts!!

He was at Wigan in League One not exactly pulling up trees when we signed him.

We need creativity rather than a brain dead road runner with no end product if we are to get back up.

I’d rather take a chance on a lower league player on the up.

It depends what your criteria is. In terms of staying in the prem or our other signings, yes it is peanuts.

But my criteria is what did we pay for him (£2m if I remember right) and could we replace him with a player who is better for that potential £4m? I think we can.

That's why many people who have to work hard for a living have fallen out of love with football! I am not one of those who " thought oh well" with the Barcelona disgrace - those w ankers should have been moved on immediately! Better still locked up, as would Jo Public if they had done the same!

McClean tried hard - he did give 100% and even gave 100% in turning his back on our National Anthem. The little
w anker should remember that many travelled to the USA to watch those matches including me, who were sick at his pathetic little protect and yet he picks up around 50K per week - all from the Bank of England with the Queen's head on the notes!

As for Barry, he's taken his last pay day and happy to graze like a Donkey that he is - even nicking a cab and chasing young girls in a nightclub show no shame to him!
