Somebody called me Sebastian- Steve Harley Cardiff last night.

Steve Harley and his two very able band members played an acoustic set in the Welsh capital last night( the third of three consecutive shows) and went down a storm in the compact Acapela Studios(a converted church) in front of 200 people. Despite being confined to a stool following a recent fall and damaging his hip, he still produced the goods which delighted his group of loyal fans. The last time I saw him live was in the mid seventies when Psychomodo and Human Menagerie albums had not long been released and he is still as popular now. It was good to hear the popular songs he was/is famous for( Mr Soft, Judy Teen , Sebastian etc) played on an improvised basis, but still very enjoyable nonetheless.Throw in a few stories about how he met Bob Dylan and how he got ideas for some of the songs and there you have it. A really good 2 and a quarter hour set ended with chart topper Come Up And See Me , Make Me Smile and yes he did make the audience very happy. Catch him when you can. Sometimes these type of gigs are much more enjoyable in a smaller intimate setting such as the one last nigh. You will not be disappointed.
