According to the Evening Standard Newcastle in advanced talks with Chelsea to bring Kenedy to St James.... On Loan..with an option to buy later.
Can we not afford ANYONE ffs?

They’re looking 15m for him.
Supporting this club is torture.
I think a season long loan with a locked in option to buy at a set price is a good deal.
The way Ashley works is to pay up front for buys but sells and gives the buyer time to pay.
The best we can hope for under the Ashley regime.
Whilst I agree with folks' concerns about what a loan deal might mean in terms of how much we have to spend or Rafa's future, you could also argue it works out very well for us-means we can spend on another position and also means we have Kenedy coming back, which most of us want.

I agree. This idea of loan for a year then signing next year sounds odd. Why wait, we've seen what he can do, just sign the fkr now - unless you already know Rafas going at the end of the season and you have the ready made excuse not to sign him.
I smell the niggardly suet aisle blocker all over this. Same with the idea of selling Ritchie for Townsend - take with one hand and give with the other. Whats the point like?
If we sign him on loan with an obligation to buy, then there is no problem. As the money will definitely be spent (whether it is this year or next i do not care)
But then selling Ritchie to buy Townsend seems a strange one.
But...
We compmain when deals are not done, then we complain when deals look close.
I just hope Rafa is pulling the strings and not the accountants.
But as i have pointed out... if rafa doesnt sign an a new contract soon i cant see him signing one next year either . This is typical Ashley charnley.. not spending.
Kenedy is probably top of the targets list and we aint after buying him.. so who are we saving the money for to buy?
