Marshalling was enjoyable.

Spent all of Sunday on 13th tee a few feet from the players....some of them were a bit needy with their caddies, confirming the shot two or three times which suggested to me a real lack of confidence in their own ability.

A couple of them wud have been better with a sports pycologist rather than a caddy.

It should be a bit cooler and less windy next week.
You wonder what the players did during their practice rounds as that was the time to work out how to play around the Carnoustie Championship course. I suspect them confirming their shots several times with their caddie was down to nerves and pressure.
I was a volunteer at the 1970 Open Championship which was played on the Old Course St Andrews and I was carrying round a portable scoreboard.
On the first round which was played on a Wednesday at the 1st hole the players were hitting a drive and a flick of their wedge to reach the green whilst on the final day in gale force westerly winds Guy Wolstenhome hit a drive and a full three iron shot which just made it over the Swilken burn and onto the first green.
It is the wind that makes seaside golf courses difficult to play.
