    New season fresh start!

Thoroughly enjoyed today's game and left with an optimism not often felt by most reds fans .
I sincerely believe if we can keep up the tempo and quality shown especially in the first half we will do well in this league ....
Thought the entire team played outstanding but 3 players especially stood out for me

    1. Thiam

Has an amazing first touch and took both his goals exceptionally well, seems a lot fitter than last year.

    2.mowatt

Another one who seems a lot fitter dropped a lot of weight and looks a completely new player in his preferred role and provides a wicked ball in set piece situationo

    3. Dougall

Don't want to shoot the gun so to speak but think we may have found a little gem here , very calm in possession and his all round game/distribution etc is fantastic

All in all a great day let's take in our stride and kick on and who knows

The first 45mins of each game will be so much more important this season. No team can keep up high tempo football for 90 mins . Liverpool are the classic case for me , they can rip any team apart over 45mins but tend to often nearly throw games away second half . If we can get in front first half and then pick teams off when they’ve got to go for it second half like today then all’s good.
If we can’t get in front first half then teams come at us when we’re tiring second half that’s when we’d be in trouble . We saw today that we had a lull second half until we got our second wind.

I expect teams to come to Oakwell and totally shut up shop first half in future and try and nick a goal second half when we’re tiring . Teams will arrive with a much better game plan than Oxford as the season progresses .

I ad it darn as a draw, so what would i know? But its been fairly unanimous that we we're pretty good today. There will be better teams than Oxford, but 4-0. Think that's the best start since early bronze age. They earned their energy drinks and vegan bean salads tonight. Tuck in boys.

Good to hear the new wave of optimism coming from our fans after yesterday. Makes a refreshing change after last season. Some really positive posts and it all seems really upbeat. Long may it continue

lets not get carried away 0xford were crap.

mowatt look decent thiam had a good first half even moore found out how to head a ball bradders got into some decent spaces but just couldn't put ball in net.

the defence for me still looks iffy there were still the odd lasp in concentration poor ball control and then theres davis who has had all summer to improve and still cant kick a ball on a back pass still stays rooted to that six yard box.

yes good start to the league but theres much much better attacking teams yet to come.

Absolutely Yorkshireborn. Its one game out of 46 in a long long season and we've seen how fickle football can be. The fans were revelling in it after a big win which is perfectly understandable. However, constructive criticism is always good in my book. In most walks of life you should always be looking to improve rather than be content to stand still.

I made my point about Mowatt yesterday which some probably found to be negative. I personally hope he makes me eat my words. I ain't gonna rewer abart it if I'm totally wrong and go into hibernation or owt daft like that
