    Len Johnrose has MND!

Len Johnrose - a former midfielder who made more than 400 Football League appearances for Blackburn Rovers, Hartlepool, Bury, Burnley and Swansea City - went public for the first time about living with the illness.

Little over a decade since his playing career came to an end, the 48-year-old father-of-three, now a school teacher, admits he has already researched assisted dying as he fears the debilitating impact the illness will have.

He tells BBC Radio Lancashire about the harsh reality of living with motor neurone disease.

Very sad news. I had a friend who ran a sports shop and was a very active man, he was diagnosed with MND and it was so sad to see him deteriorating more and more each time I saw him. His son was brilliant with him and took him to loads of football matches but he died just 21 months after he was diagnosed and shortly after being a guest of honour at the Northumberland County Cup Final at St James Park in 2017.
Best wishes to Len in his stuggle with the disease.

Usually two years post diagnosis but Fernando Ricksen ex Rangers diagnosed 2013 is still alive and Doddie Weir is still mobile, recently meeting the Queen 14 months after diagnosis

No BT it’s not good apart from Steven Hawkins who survived over 50 years. Usually swallowing and breathing are affected and two years is the average. The quality of life is not great either. A friend of mine a scientist had it, his last words were I’m seeing stars, that’s a sign of lack of oxygen..
