Thread: Ben Gibson.

    Ben Gibson.

I hope the home crowd give Ben Gibson great support when he plays next at the Turf as he looked distraught when he was sent off on Thursday. No way was it his fault.Reports coming out suggest his red card was the end result of provocation and threats by the home club at half time.

I would love to see a back four of Lowton, Tarkowski, Gibson and Mee.

Move Ben back across to left back and put Taylor in front of him until Brady is fit.

Shocking decision to send him off for what was at best a very debatable penalty, given the fact this hand was not even raised!

Ben is a good player and was on the wrong end of a decision which left me mystified. The ball came off his hip and hit his hand, the referee decided to award a penalty but the decision to give a second caution for deliberate hand ball was strange, to say the least.
He will be a good player for the Clarets.

Nooooo Mee can't play at left back again twice the player in the middle, Gibson will have to wait his turn

I thought he had improved at left back whitty beyond all recognition before Shackell left and he was moved inside.

But his hand was not raised, that was ball to hand and IMHO nowhere near a penalty, never mind a yellow card.

In view of the fact that the referee had already denied two penalty appeals during the first half and had been 'got at' during half time --of course it was a penalty because it his his hand, the referee didn't need any other encouragement. I think that it actually came off Long's thigh or hip and then hit Gibson's hand.
The caution was just another way for the officials to ensure that they got safe passage out of Greece and nobody can prove it one way or another.

....so Sub - you believe it was handball but shouldn't have been given ?.....because you don't believe it intentional ? - and also due to the Ref feeling pressured ?

...this angle shows the ball a millisecond before hitting Gibsons arm....seems that it didn't make any contact with Long.
