    most over rated toon player

was out last night with a mate who is a toon supporter

he had his old too top on with barton on the back (warren )

he says he was a quality player
    i disagree
he was good but i dont think many would have him on the back of our shirts

who is your most over rated player

mine in recent times is the other barton

but over all it has to be michael owen or ian rush

Most recently nobody, because we do not have anybody nationally rated.

Recent history, michael owen and damien duff. Superstar status, little output and minimal effort.

I never rated Keith Gillespie, (one good game against barca).
Any half decent winger would have got assists with big les, shearer and tino to feed. But generally he was lazy.

Earlier, i liked it when we signed household names, but they usually ended up awful. (John Bailey, Kenny sansom)

Dave beasant and john robertson must have been the worst.

We have hoovered up a lot of autumnal players here for their swansong payday.

    Some have veen worthy
Keegan, terry mac, beardsley (2nd time)

    Some ok
Sruart pearce, john burridge, sibierski, kluivert

    Mostly awful
Bailey, sansom, rush, barnes, viduka, ronny johnsen, kuqi, sol campbell

Note. Kuqi in as a joke. I am fully aware he was never rated

Michael owen and now he’s saying his career was faltering at 19 with dodgy hamstrings and later in his career he just wanted to retire! The £105k a week we paid must have kept you interested eh

    Mark Viduka lazy fat git.

Beresford - I much preferred Robbie Elliott

    Barton - “ “ Steve Watson

This just proves we used to have 2 players per position, with some capable of playing several positions.

Now we struggle to have 1 player for some positions while some players are barely capable of even filling in for ONE position.

Of the supposed bigger names, Campbell, Owen and Duff are the three which stand out as being the biggest bloodsuckers to me.

Michael Owen; in terms of his "legacy" (or maybe just history) when he came here and the fact that he was (and still is!!!) our record signing, one must say that he was a big flop who never gave it his best which he recently just admitted. And so in that sense we overrated him, but nowadays I don't think people see him as being overrated, just shyte. Not a player that's fondly remembered for his time here.

So is the question overrated players that are fondly thought of at the club, or just overrated in a broader sense?

I couldn't believe owen went to manure
    he was a mercenary

when I had horses I met him

and took an instant dislike to him

never had a good word for anyone

he asked me why I drive all the way up to the toon to watch them ,surely there are better teams locally he said .but then said they do love their football

Owen and Campbell to an extent were just two lazy bloodsucking gits looking for an easy last couple of seasons where they could do F all but get fat at the club's expense and not put a shift in.

Compared to the likes of true professionals who came here and gave their best as Stuart Pierce, K.K. and Pedro did the others aren't fit to wipe the boots of those three.
