Is there a pattern developing here?

Why are we making bids for players on either the last day or penultimate day of the transfer window? Is it indicative of a completely scattergun approach by our so called 'scouting dept' or is it a cynical attempt by the club to make us believe that they are bidding for high profile targets knowing full well that the selling club will reject the bid because they don't have time to find a replacement. It probabably isn't helped either by the fact that the bids are usually derisory.

You will notice its exactly the same as the transfer windows when JP and Jenkins were here before we get fed spin that we allegedly bid for players but sign nobody, with the sale of Chadli Jenkins will think he has almost had the perfect transfer window with only Barry still here of the high wage earners.

Not doubting that we may not get anybody in however until the club knew that Chadli was off or indeed any other high-earner, I would say impossible to make any bids, yes do a bit of groundwork, but can't really make any bids due to budget?
